Usually I work on Sundays, but I had yesterday off. (Woohoo!) I took it off just to go to a really fun BBQ with a childhood friend, her husband, my sister, her boyfriend, another couple, and of course V went with me.
We had a delicious BBQ - with sangria to start and strawberry trifle to end. (With board games in between all of the feasting!)
Amazing time with wonderful, wonderful people.
Adorable addition to sangria pitcher! |
The sangria was amazing - seriously one of the best I've had. I have the "secret" recipe for it. AND - I'm going to share it with you. ;)
Ingredients:
-1 1/2 liters red table wine
-1 cup grenadine
-2 cups cranberry juice
-1 1/4 cups sweet vermouth
-strawberries (cut)
-oranges (sliced thin)
-crushed ice
Sugar Water:
-1/2 cup sugar
-1/2 cup water (half sugar, half water)
Directions:
1- Dissolve the sugar in water in a large container (at least 1 gallon)
2- Combine the sugar water and the remaining ingredients (excluding the crushed ice).
3- Place in the refrigerator at least 4-5 hours. If possible leave overnight.
4- Pour mix, including fruit, into a serving glass and add the crushed ice.
What did you do this weekend? Hope it was absolutely fantastic!
P.S.- I'm having trouble figuring out what "type" of blog I am...I'm obviously not a mom blog- not a beauty blog... what am I?! I need help figuring out my niche :)

Love sangria! I've never made my own though. I just usually buy a bottle of ready made and add fruit. I like it with blueberries and granny smith apples!
ReplyDeleteI never have figured out what type of blog I am, LOL. A little bit of everything I guess ;-)
I loveeeee Sangria!!!! I prefer white, but I will drink either/or ... it is my go-to-drink! I get sad when I am somewhere that does not offer Sangria!!! :)
ReplyDeleteI love sangria in the summer too! Thanks for the recipe. And thanks too for your visit to my blog and comment this morning. I'm not sure how you found me, but I'm so glad you did.

Me again. Forgot to mention...I've been blogging over 5 years and I still can't describe my blog...it's not a cooking blog or a photography blog or a decorating blog. etc. It's just a way to record my life and what's going on. Sometimes it's silly and sometimes I have recipe, but usually it's just whatever I feel like sharing. Don't stress out over it...just do your "thang".
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Kat
