People Have Too Much Time on their Hands

I can't help but share this with you ladies.

It's too funny (I think!) to pass up.

I apologize if you don't find it as amusing as me.

But...

We found this in our "suggestion box" Thursday morning:

"Found in class room - need to spray"

This individual is talking about our group fitness room where classes are held.

It was just a bunch of papers...like a little present...so we unwrapped it:

Hmm...ok?

That white thing in the middle of all the papers - a piece of tissue. Looks like something was inside - so we opened it...

Mr. Dead Ant

Oh boy.

Yes. Someone found an ant...a crushed-up ant at that and took the time to do all of the above.

It's not like we live in Florida or anything...or they are totally destroying the piece of land behind the gym...or it's been raining like there's been a hurricane here the past few days...no, none of those are possible.

I am sorry that spraying four times a year isn't good enough for you.

Spraying more than that might be hazardous to your health. (Ok, I'm over-exaggerating a little, but it sounds good, doesn't it?)

Check out all of this destruction...
You can't really see the magnitude of this...but it is literally TEN FEET from our back door.

People have way too much time on their hands and complain about the dumbest things (in my opinion!)

Happy Saturday, darling dears! May it be superb <3

P.S. You should join me in this fantastic friends meet up! Thank you so much, Perfect, for including me on this list! You're amazing, Mehreen! <3

True Life: I Peed in the Shower

Shhh...I peed in the shower.

Don't tell anyone.

And don't stop reading my blog. I'm just being honest.

I don't even remember how it came up, but V one day was talking about how he pees in the shower. I told him it was absolutely disgusting and that he better not do it in any shower I use.

Over the past few weeks, I used Pickel's facebook as a means for polling to see how many people do it. Being my naive self, I told V I bet it was highly uncommon. Especially because the few people (2 of my cousins and a couple of their friends) I did ask, about half of them said "no way" and the other half said "not on a regular basis, but I HAVE."

Honestly, I was baffled at the response on the little Pickel facebook poll. At least a dozen people said something to the effect of "who doesn't?!"

I'm not lying when I say I never had, until Thursday at about 9:30am when I was showering. It was shave day, too - which meant extra long shower. Underarms, legs, unmentionables. I was almost done - until I couldn't take it any longer. My 2 prior cups of coffee needed to come out - I didn't have a choice.

At first I was trying to hold it in, just so V wouldn't be able to say "I told you so!" But I couldn't do. I just couldn't. I tried so hard, too.

I was trying to figure out - what should I do? I have got to squat or else it'd get all over my legs. (Sorry for the vividness of this! Haha!)

So, squatting I did.

Ah. Sweet release.

It was like I was a pro at it.

And, I felt so much better. (Except for the fact that once again, V wins! Not cool...just once, I want to win.)

Let's have it...am I on my own? Or do you ladies pee in the shower too?

Have a fantastic and safe weekend you beautiful ladies!

P.S. I think when I get 100 followers, I'll do something fun! Should I try to figure out how to do some sort of giveaway? Or should I start my own blog hop?! Ideas? :o)

Speaking of followers, I'm so thankful for you all!

Still thankful...after all, it is Thursday!

Neither worrying nor complaining takes away today's or tomorrow's troubles or aggravations - it takes away peace and contentment.

I have to tell you that was I was starting to write this blog post, I was about to overload it with complaints and venting. After realizing the above and having a nice encounter with my old man friend, I brought myself back to reality and realized that a) no one wants to hear it - even if I made it amusing to read and b) by acting this way, I'm not living in my victory that God has blessed me with.

The conversation with my old man friend went something like this...(this is after he offered to bring me lunch because he found out I was working an 11 hour shift...how cute and sweet is that?! He's brought me small potted flowers because I found his cell phone. I just adore him!) ANYWAYS- so he's been being tested (wires all over him) for something - I didn't ask him what, didn't want to be too noisy - after he told me last week he was in the hospital. He kept on saying to me (the past two days) what doesn't kill you, only makes you stronger! This gentleman walks so slow, with a little shuffle-like walk. He still always has a smile on his face and a kind word to say.

He made me realize that no matter how many crazy and irritating things were happening to me, they didn't matter. Being upset wouldn't matter. Complaining wouldn't fix the issue. Being irritated wouldn't fix my mood. Being just as rude as someone was to me, wouldn't fix the issue.

Instead I took a breath, thanked Jesus for the wisdom, put a smile on, and overcame obstacles that came my way.

I was also reminded how I cannot let these tricks of the enemy ruin my day and cause me not to enjoy my day of complete and utter victory.

I am loved by Jesus - through Him I am victorious. Remind yourself of that. I know I am so very thankful for that fact.

Workout Wednesday (2)

I'm not sure if you ladies know, but I work at a gym. (Anytime Fitness to be exact. -A member of ours...not MY Anytime Fitness, but one of them...lost over 250 pounds...AWESOME!)

Oh, and I digress even further...have you seen Extreme Makeover: Weightloss Edition?! Or whatever they're calling it. (The show right after the Bachelorette.) I adore that show! It's so great. The personal trainer they have on there is fantastic (cute, too!!) He's such a great motivator and helps them so much. I look up to these people for having the desire to lose the weight but also asking for help - that takes a lot of courage!

For fun, I will include my typical meal plan as well...I should start counting calories - but I don't...I don't need to lose weight, just gain muscle and tone up!

Breakfast:
Greek yogurt with Kashi protein cereal + coffee with soy milk

Snack 1:
Handful of almonds

Lunch: (I usually eat this after working out)
Protein shake (50g of protein!) with water (or soy milk)
Spinach with tuna (no mayo, just salt, pepper + relish)
Some type of crackers (100 cals worth) with hummus or just my tuna
Fruit

Snack 2:
Protein bar or banana with peanut butter

Dinner:
Chicken breast cooked on the George Foreman with just seasoning
Veggies

Snack 3:
Fruit

Did you work out today? If so, what'd you do? I'd love to learn more!!

Any healthy food ideas?! :) -Would love some of those, too!

Sharing

My question to you is - do you and your significant share a lot? I don't mean share love for one another or share the last bit of dressing that's left on your dinner salad.

Saturday night, V and I just finished a delicious Italian dinner. We were debating about going to Publix to pick up a sweet treat. Lately, we've had our eyes on some delicious cupcakes. I don't mean those puney little ones you see in a package of eight. I mean a REAL cupcake. (We watch one too many food shows - like Cupcake Wars!)

Anywho, so I decide to say I'm not feeling a Red Velvet cupcake that V has been looking at. He then says - "Well, that's what I'm getting...you can get whatever you'd like, babe." And I say - "Oh, I thought we were sharing one..." V- "You and sharing!! I love sharing with you - when there's a lot of food, not when there's something that isn't share-worthy. Half of a cupcake will be one bite for me!"

I don't know where I get it from. V will be munching on something that there is not much quantity of (obviously quality out-weights that!) and I will come up, bat my eye lashes, and ask for a bite. After a "Babe! Really?!" I get my bite and I'm a happy camper. I could do without the 'tude but noooo - I can't have a bite and a nice man...just a bite and a grumpy man who has to share.

<3

We'll be going to the store on a Friday night (yes, we live a very fun and intriguing life...haha!) and getting a snack. V- "Ok, babe, lunch meat for me." Me- "Sounds good!" V- "No, I said I'm getting it for me. What do you want?" Me- "Oh..um..I thought we were getting lunch meat." V- "Here we go again! I'll get extra, then, since you're going to eat it all." (Sometimes, I swear, I wish we had a videographer around...we'd make for a great tv show.)

(Oh and just for the record...V is an exceptional man who I would not be with if he weren't. So before you start saying he's a jerk, etc, etc, he's not. The man just likes me to get my own food and not pick off of his. Growing boy, I guess!)

Relationships...gotta love the quirkness of relationships. After all, they are quite amusing - and at least make for a good blog post. ;)

Show + Tell Monday

It's Monday, that means show + tell time!

I have lots of great pictures to share from my 3 day weekend, which happens only seldom! (Both the 3 day weekend part AND taking pictures!)

Friday I went to New Symrna Beach (yes, the Shark Capital of the world) to meet up with Angela - a college friend who is moving to TN to go to Vanderbilt. Once V found out I had a Friday off, he decide to play hookey (shh!) ;)

Beautiful day! And no sharks! ;)

V taking a snooze!

Miss Pretty Angela!

Ice cream time...soft serve in a cone, outside in 100*, bad idea.

My sexy stud

Me + Ang!

Friday night I went to dinner and putt-putt golf with some ladies from work! I'm so awful at putt-putt...sheesh. I'm not even going to tell you my score, it's embarrassing. BUT, I did get a couple pars! Woohoo!

Nina, a personal trainer & Sunday, my partner in crime ;)

Goofy lady!

Saturday we had a delicious massage that I bought for Valentine's Day! (It expired soon...hehe!)

Amazing 55 minutes of Saturday...ah, so amazing!

Then it was time to run to somewhere to watch a soccer match!

So mesmerized!

After we were all greased up, it was time for a swim!

Me, floating around...ah, so relaxing!

V playing with his underwater camera!

China!! She loves playing ball AND swimming even more!

China dog loves diving!

Dinner time - turned into WAY too much food. It was an Italian place we went to in town that we had never been to before...oh my goodness, we'll be able to have at least three other dinners from the leftovers!

Oh MY!

Saturday night turned into a movie (V + I watched a great documentary about James Morrison...so interesting!) and this delicious treat:

I don't know the last time I had a pop tart!

Sunday I relaxed all day with this cutie pie (my god-daughter) and her momma (my cousin):

Miss Pretty!

If only I could have three day weekends every weekend. :) I am very thankful for the fantastic weekend I was able to have! <3

Hope you all had a blessed and relaxing weekend! What did you and the family do?!

Time to be Thankful

I am feeling very thankful right now as I am sitting next to a rather handsome man who is playing Mario on the Wii. A handsome man who means the world to me and I am so very thankful for.

I'm so thankful for so much. Even the most mundane things in life, it is important to still be thankful for, for there is someone out there who isn't blessed with what mundane thing you might be thinking of.

Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will
of God in Christ Jesus for you. (1 Thessalonians 5:18)

So no matter what you might be faced with right now, know that God has big plans for you. Know that He is with you at all times and loves you tremendously. Simply close your eyes and ask God for a touch from Him. Tell Him that you love Him and need a touch from Him. You might be the happiest person right now (which would make me very happy!) so make sure you give thanks!

Either way - no matter the circumstance, God has big plans for you. Plans to prosper, to grow, to succeed, to love. Be sure that you thank Him, no matter the circumstance, for you are in that position for a reason - and only He knows that reason.

P.S. I now have buttons! Well, right now - just one. (Unless someone is talented at making them and is bored! ;) ) Be sure to grab my button! ox.

I Dare You...

No...I double doggy dare you to do something extra special for someone today.

Do something that is going to make them smile so big you just want to pinch their cheeks and give them a hug.

So, Thursday of last week, I was minding my own business at work - cleaning my little heart out. I was on my hands + knees trying to get a weird stain off the floor. When all of a sudden, a member who was in earlier in the day, walks in with two delicious looking drinks from Dunkin Donuts. One for me - one for my co-worker. Just because. He saw how hard we were working when he was in earlier and just wanted to remind us how great of a job we do at work and - just because (just because we're that awesome ;) ).

YUM!

If that doesn't totally make your day...I don't know what will.

This fella didn't have to do this - he did it out of the kindness of his heart.

And you know what? It meant the world to me. (To my tummy, too!)

So this is my dare to you - I will do the same...do something kind for someone - anyone. And I mean something REALLY kind. Like- when you're buying a bottle of water and pack of gum at the gas station, pay with a $10 bill and let the cashier keep the change. Or buy a thank you card for someone you see on a consistent basis (maybe that guy at the post office who always helps you pack your packages) and give it to them. Or did you just get a pedicure at your local nail salon? Bring them some homemade cookies.

You're creative - you can figure something out. I have faith in you. :)

I will report back to you on Monday and let you know my random act of kindness.

Now go enjoy your weekend to the fullest and be extra kind!

Quote of the Day 7/22

Wisdom for you on this gorgeous Friday:

That doesn't mean forget about the day or all of the positive things that happened - but learn from your mistakes and don't dwell on them. There is no sense in worrying about what could have happened or what did happened - it's a waste of time and energy.

Today is a NEW day, so enjoy it!

I have a fantastic weekend ahead of me - beach with a friend before she leaves for grad school, dinner & putt putt golf with awesome some co-workers, a massage (that I need so bad!), etc. I am looking forward to it! May yours be blessed and fun! <3

P.S. I'm also looking forward to my Sunday sweet treat day (I try to only eat bad on Sundays...not that I don't normally cheat...but...I try!) I'm totally having a home made biscotti my aunt baked...

YUM!!

P.S.S. I need a new laptop. STAT. My Dell is going down the drain. The mouse pad doesn't work. It's slow. (Maybe it has a virus? I don't know.) It just sucks. Any ideas has to a new one? I definitely want an Apple. Anyone have any coupons or know of good discounts?!

Stetson Hall Demolition

My alma mata, Stetson University, has major constructive surgery going on today. What I mean by that - is that one of the dorm rooms are being demolished. If you're reading this on Thursday, July 21...they are probably working on it right now!

Stetson Hall, the dorm that is soon to be no more, was built in 1886! It is Stetson's second oldest building...wow, that's old! The reasoning behind this demolition is the fact that Stetson Hall is truly in poor condition - including lots of mold - ew! I remember when I went to Stetson, many people living there had health issues due to the mold.

In 1946, the building was expanded a bit, which made it lose it's historical significance a bit.

Oh, and it was haunted. Yup. Haunted. Sad story- a young man committed suicide by hanging himself from his shower in a dorm room in Stetson Hall. I can't remember what year this happened. Story has it that people will see him walking around - through the window from the outside. People have said that they've seen him just staring out into the courtyard. Creepy, right?

Stetson Hall

Can you believe that for 125 years, Stetson Hall was used as a dormitory?! That sure is a long time! I feel like it's a piece of history that is soon going missing...

The property will now be used, most likely, for an admissions center.

UPDATE: Here's a picture of it starting...

It's so weird to know that when I go to visit, Stetson Hall will be MIA.

Has that happened to any of your alma matas? If so- how weird was it for you?

It's almost the weekend - yay! I have a three day weekend! :) Hope you all have a fantastic day!!

Wordless Wednesday (2)

V + I went snorkeling on a cruise to Mexico...we found some new friends! ;)

Happy Wednesday! Hope it's full of lots of smiles and laughs :)

A couple of great blog hops I decided to try out this week...if you're visiting from there - glad to come to visit, hope you decide to follow! ox

Blogging Hints Catch a Wave Wednesday

Little Things

Do you absolutely adore the little things in life, like me? I am so thankful for the little things - it's what makes me so happy!

I'll be walking through the store, pass a beautiful flower and take a smell. I know that sounds incredibly cheesy, but it's true. I love when people (ahem, V if you're reading this... ;) ) leave me random notes (just kidding, V knows me well enough by now to know that) or even pick a wildflower and give it to me. One of my little cousins does that for me all of the time - melts my heart.

Monday night, at work, there was a young man in there that is a pretty consistent member. He is always very polite, nice, and social. Always makes a point to say hello to whoever is working. (I love when people do that - makes me feel more like a person and not just the manager...if that makes sense?) Anywho, as I was closing up he asked me if I was going on a date when I got off. I looked at him, smiled, and said "No not tonight." He then proceeded to say - "Oh wow...guess you always look that beautiful then" and walked away. Too cute! He totally made my night. He didn't have to say that - but chose to. He doesn't think anything "funny" by it - he is at least 6 years younger...but I thought it was just too sweet! Totally innocent.

Little things like that - make me so happy.

Here's a car that V and I saw the other night...we couldn't help but take a picture...we were trying to figure out what on earth the license plate said - it took a second...

YAGRBOM

Amusing, right? Who would have thought?!

Again, the little things...made a monotonous drive a little more amusing. (Monotonous only because we take the same route to the grocery store all of the time - not because we were with each other...just wanted to clarify!)

A couple more little things- having a man who asked me if he could vacuum because he likes putting lines in the carpet, people winking at me, homemade biscottis, snail mail - that isn't a bill or junk mail.

What are some of your favorite little things? Do they completely make your day like they do mine?!
