On this lovely Friday morning, I'm linking up with the lovely ladies Vicki + Tara for NAIL FILES!
This week, I went with this color choice for my nails...
Can I tell you that I've always had issues with nail polish? I painted my nails on Wednesday night and now, Friday morning it looks like this....
Why?! What am I doing wrong?
I thought Essie was supposed to be the best of the best as far as nail polish goes?! I used a top coat, too.
It bothers me that I spent $8 for one bottle that doesn't even last more than a day. Grr.
Does anyone else have the same issue, or is it just me?!
The color is so pretty! What top coat are you using? Staying power is ALL about a GOOD top coat!!! Try Seche Vite it is amazing!!! Thanks for linking up!!!
ReplyDeleteI agree that you need a good top coat. I really like Sally Hansen's top coat but I have heard amazing things about the OPI one.

I love that color! And I seriously need to know what's up with my top coat too because any polish I use (Essie included) always chips so easily.
ReplyDeleteMy Essie polish chips too... I never think of using a top coat, but I love the Sally Hansen COMPLETE SALON MANICURE brand... it stays pretty for a long time!
ReplyDeleteI heard that running your nails under cold water as soon as the polish sets can help with the chipping.
p.s. LOVE that color! pretty!
I like Essie because it goes on smooth but I find it chips very fast. And I've given up using a top coat...I found my nails chipped faster with it. I use a base coat religiously, plus 2 coats of polish, and a top coat was just making it took think and one tiny chip would end up turning into almost my entire nail having no polish. Try without a top coat and see how it works.
ReplyDeletePretty color! I was rocking something very similar the week of Christmas. Now mine are a glittery gold. One of my favorite things about being a girly girl is painting my nails!
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, and I've heard the running cold water over your nails after you paint them too. I've tried it a couple times and it worked!
Have you ever tried Coach nail polish? I know that sounds strange since they don't really market this, but I got them as a free gift with a purse last Christmas and they are WONDERFUL. We are talking like 2 weeks, no chips. Swear!
OPI makes a nifty little product called "Chip Skip" that you put on before you paint your nails. I think it helps a lot. Good luck. Love the color choice :)
ReplyDeleteOh wow! I heard Essie was really good. I use OPI for a top coat and have had good luck with that. I don't know if it's the polish or the top coat that's the problem though.
ReplyDeleteNo matter which brand of nail polish I use, no matter which brand of top coat I use, my nail polish ALWAYS chips!!! I rarely wear it on my finger nails anymore. I wash my hands a lot (NOT OCD, I just work with the public and with a baby!) and I use my hands ALL DAY LONG at Old Navy AND nannying for Max. I've pretty much given up on manicures. Pedicures last me WEEKS, sometimes months. :-) Maybe you could paint your toe nails for the link up? ;-)
ReplyDeletexo,
A
well the color is really pretty, but that sucks about the chipping! i've found that a good base coat and top coat help a lot! thanks for linking up! :)
ReplyDeleteLove your pretty red! :)
ReplyDeleteYour nails look amazing when you first painted them. I have the same problem sometimes I paint them and a day later look like crap.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a fun link up. Love that color! I know what you mean about the chipping...I guess I need to look into another top coat.
ReplyDeleteWe think a base coat like China Glaze and a top coat like Seche Vite helps it to stay on longer. The color is gorgeous though!
