Ok so a couple of weeks ago when I said Seche Vite failed me, some of you ladies said I was crazy and that it works for them. I'm not sure what the deal is.
This time I even tried the cold water rinse after the nail polish AND buffing them before hand.
I will share with you my experience...
I painted my nails this super cute Essie color on Monday night...
Looks pretty perfect, right?
Tuesday morning after I had breakfast and did the dishes, my nails looked like this:
I got to work on Tuesday and did a workout. I wear workout gloves when I workout so my hands are somewhat shielded from the elements...
After I did some cleaning at work (while wearing gloves) and washed some dishes at home - when I got home, they looked like this:
Wednesday morning when I woke up, I took a shower, had some breakfast, and washed some dishes. My nails then decided to look like:
I then went to workout...
While at work, I put some some gloves to clean...
I know seche vite wasn't supposed to be magic and protect me from this...but...come on. It didn't even last me a day.
I'll give it to them that at least it dries quick. That's about it.
I guess when it comes to nail polish, I'm out of luck. The nail polish gods hate me.

Can I just remind you that this was TUESDAY. Basically the same
day since the day prior when I painted them, all I did was sleep.

Did you put on a top coat also? When my daughter and I do our nails I put on top coat and she doesn't because she says she's too lazy, but my nail polish lasts over a week before it looks too bad, and hers lasts like yours....
ReplyDeleteBummer, I'm not a fan of Essie polishes. I really like all of their colors, but they are thin and tend to streak. Oh and the brush is so tiny.
ReplyDeleteMy nail polish use to do that too and I noticed it was rubbing off on things like paper and my car, so I started using a top coat and I haven't had a problem since. Are you using a top coat?
ReplyDeleteI have issues with it only lasting a day or so too, are you using a base coat, it helps but they still don't last for me a real long time. Especially if I'm in water.
ReplyDeleteI have the same frustrations. I think my perfect pretty nails last about an hour, even if I paint them and go immediately to sleep.
ReplyDeleteIf you do find a solution, please let me know. :-)
Pretty color! Mine i have to do about every other day!
ReplyDeletethats so crazy because I just used S.V. for the first time this week and it worked wonders for me! I added a coat daily and I also used a base coat... maybe dry a base coat? I also hear to use acetone to "clean" your nails before you start painting.
ReplyDeletehere is what I did:

My nails always chip the SAME DAY that I paint them! That's why my toes are the only ones that are faithfully painted :)
ReplyDeleteI hate how quickly it chips even when you get a professional manicure! I love the Shellac and other gels b/c they last forever!!
ReplyDeleteI have the same luck. I use a top coat and it helps some, but not much. I think it's because our hands are exposed to the elements, you never hear anyone talk about having this trouble with their toes! ;)
ReplyDeleteAhhh! What a disaster! So disappointing :(
ReplyDeleteI have just as bad luck with nail polish... But apparently messed up polish is "in" right now. o_O
ReplyDeleteI have the same issue with every type of nail polish I try. Sigh.
ReplyDeletexo,
A
so sad it didn't work for you! =/
ReplyDeleteAw man!! I'm sorry about that.
ReplyDeleteIt definitely helps me last a couple more days... but my nails seem to always start chipping after 3 days no matter what.
haha I love how you broke this down! I saw someone recommend Sally Hansen's Super Kwik dry on one of the posts... perhaps try that?
ReplyDeleteyou should look into getting gelish nail polish. i get mines done at the nail salon that i go to. it's kinda pricey but it last really long and won't chip like regular nail polish.
ReplyDeleteO noo! You made me laugh with your arrows and game over! Aww I'm sorry! That makes me so mad too! Especially when I take a lot of time to make them look nice! You've got great nails and that color is awesome!
ReplyDeleteI hope you find a kind you love!!
Xoxoxo

The same thing happens to me with ALL polishes. I think it happens because my nails are weak and when my Polish chips, my nail breaks.

ReplyDeleteI use a coat of Sally Hansen hard as nails in invisible and that seems to help a lot. I work in a warehouse and my polish usually doesn't chip for about 5 days so maybe try that.
ReplyDeleteJust to be perfectly clear, the way SV works is: it penetrates your lacquer to bond with your base coat. This review doesn't specify if this technique was used. I wouldn't discount SV just yet.
ReplyDeleteyou guys should try painting some bond aid from OPI on before you paint your nails, then a top coat on top, mine always used to chip very quickly, using bond aid definately makes them chip free for longer! :)
ReplyDeleteEither you didn't file right, didn't get seche vite on the edge of the nail, or didn't wash your hands before painting. Do you have thin nails? Because I've never had this happen. My mani lasts 1-2 weeks through daily workouts, house work, and desk work. I hope you give the seche vite a second chance if you haven't tossed it!
ReplyDeleteI actually found out that Seche Vite only works with certain kinds of polishes. I found that the Wet N Wild Megalast polishes work really well with it.
