Lately, every time I've been juicing, I add spinach to it for the health benefits of spinach. (And, honestly, I like the taste.)
We all know spinach is good for you - after all, Popeye says so!
Health benefits of spinach include:
Great source of iron! This is necessary to be energetic!
Keeps your brain young! Studies have shown that it helps against age-related decline of the brain.
Contains anti-inflammatory properties. Helps with arthritis, inflammation, etc.
Great source of many vitamins! K, C, B, E, zinc, omega 3-acids. High blood pressure is maintained.
Has many flavonoids that act as anti-oxidants. Protects your body! Flavonoids slows down cancer cells.
Many anti-oxidants. Protects eyes from eye-degenerate diseases and cataracts.
Contains fiber. Helps digestion, curbs over-eating, keeps you filler longer
I just packed a big spinach salad for lunch. Looks like we're on the same page!
ReplyDeleteOkay, I need to eat more spinach!! Whenever I make fruit smoothies, I always add a handful of it to smoothies, but that's about the only way I eat it. I might need to take a look at that recipe you posted! lol
ReplyDeleteI need to incorporate more spinach into my diet for sure! I have been drinking a little of the Boathouse Brand Green Goodness which has lots of veggies and some fruits in it in the mornings!

I'm not sure yet on how I feel about Spinach muffins, but we do eat a lot of baby spinach salads at the casa:)
ReplyDeleteCan you taste the spinach in the "green smoothies"?? I'm so hesitate to try them!

Spinach is pretty tasty! :) I was wondering the same thing, does the spinach overpower the taste in a smoothie?
ReplyDeleteCami,
ReplyDeleteNel LOVED spinach when she was a baby. She would eat it all the time. It amazed me and my husband. Now today, she is working on her Ph.D. I guess that spinich really paid off. hehe
Loved this post today.

I make smoothies in the blender with spinach, banana, some type of green juice (there are lots of different brands), and frozen peaches. YUM YUM YUM YUM YUM! :-)
ReplyDeleteI was talking with a 2nd grader this morning and he had never heard of Popeye. Oh my goodness - I couldn't believe it!
