What is with the latest coconut milk craze? Did it come out of no where or have I been living under a rock?? (I hope I haven't been living under a rock!)
First, I noticed some coconut milk from Silk. Instead of soy or almond milk they are offering coconut milk. I grabbed it last week...super delicious!
Someone was mentioned to me at they juice bar that I should make some coconut ice cream. I kind of thought it was a "vegan/health food thing." I didn't realize they were selling it at the stores...until I noticed it last night!
(Side note: I also noticed greek frozen yogurt! What a great idea!! When it goes on sale, I am totally going to try it.)
The last "oddity" I noticed was coconut milk yogurt. Again, probably delicious since it will be creamier.
Ok, so first - have I been living under a rock?
And second, have you tried any of these products? If so, what did you think??
I'd love your opinions before I purchase some! ox
First--Yes...you have been living under a rock. Coconut milk has been popular for years! HOWEVER...it is turning into a fad right now. Think...Adkins Diet/South Beach Diet/Step Aerobics/"It's a salad so it must be good for you"/"Put a bird on it" type fads. Cool thing is, Coconut Milk is pretty fantastic for you!
ReplyDeleteSecond--I do NOT like coconut milk. I don't like coconut though! Vance LOVES coconut milk, though. The consistency gets in my way, though, just like soy and almond milk. The consistency sets me off before the taste does! I think you might like it, though! Vance loves the stuff and HIGHLY recommends it!
Third--LOVE YOU!

I just re-read my comment and it just goes to show you that talking to a two year old about trains/trucks/construction equipment while trying to type a comment produces an incredible overuse of the word, "though." Geesh. I'm lame!

Coconut "stuff" has been around forever!! Since I stay away from dairy {90% of the time} and cannot do soy, I've enjoyed coconut milk for years. There's a coconut ice cream called "Bliss," and that name could not be more accurate!! LOVE coconut everything!
ReplyDeleteNo you have not been living under a rock ..lol... this past year after a nutritionist I consulted with introduced me coconut water I have been coconut crazy ... the milk and ice-cream is also tres delish!!! I think we are noticing it more as it becomes "mainstream"... haPPY WEEK-END, XO HHL
ReplyDeleteCami, i'm so glad you posted this because I ADORE all things coconut!!! Besides being allergic to gluten, i'm also allergic to dairy, so for the last year I have been discovering the goodness of coconut in place of regular milk. I've tried all these products except for the yogurt, which i'm pumped to try! My favorite coconut ice cream is Coconut Bliss...they have all different kinds and it is So yummy! Hope you have a great day girl, love Katie
ReplyDeleteI think the coconut products have been around for awhile, but I don't think they've gotten popular until the past couple of years.
ReplyDeleteI haven't tried any...but am mildly curious. Do they have an overwhelming coconut taste? I don't mind a mild coconut flavor, but I think a bold flavor might be too much for me.
I'm just thankful that I've been able to convince John to get off of cow's milk. We are now drinking either soy or almond and thankfully, he likes them better...yay!
Yum! Coconut is one of my favorites!! I haven't seen any of these either so, maybe I've been under that rock with ya! :)
ReplyDeleteOmygoodness, I want to try the milk! That sounds amazing!
And coconut ice cream and gelato is one of my favorites. Oh, and coconut margaritas from the restaurant I used to work at.
Okay, now it's 2am and I want coconut. Lol
Have a happy and beautiful weekend, pretty lady!
Sending love and hugs and much thanks for your sweet friendship!

Coconut products have been around for a while, I had them growing up. But there does seem to be a fad with them lately. I've had coconut milk, it's not bad at all, but I prefer soy or rice... My daughter loves almond. But as for yogurt and ice cream, it's some of the BEST non-dairy choices out there. It does not have an overwhelming coconut flavor at all, it tastes like whatever flavor it is. Chocolate is yummy!!
ReplyDeleteHmm....I wonder if any of these will taste good. I'll have to give it a try.
ReplyDeleteI've nominated you for a Versatile Blogger Award. Check it out here: http://livelaughloveforme.blogspot.com/
YUM YUM YUM.
ReplyDeleteI also just recently found the joys of coconut milk -- it's my new favorite smoothie ingredient!!! :) I love EVERYTHING coconut and need to look up more recipes... coconut and pineapple... yum yum. :)
Hope you're having a good weekend! <3
If only if I like coconut..
ReplyDeleteI've been meaning to ask you.. where was that picture taken of the beach in your banner?
